Privacy notice
How this site handles personal data. Last updated August 2026.
What this site collects
This is a static site. It sets no cookies of its own, runs no client-side JavaScript, and does not track visitors between pages. Personal data reaches us through the forms described below, and through the server logs our hosting provider records.
Contact form submissions
When you submit the contact form, the name, email address, organization, subject, and message you provide are processed by Netlify Forms on our behalf. We use this to answer you. We do not add contact form submitters to any mailing list. Submissions are retained for as long as needed to handle the inquiry and any follow-up, and are deleted on request.
Contributor applications
When you apply through the contribute form, the first and last name, email address, subject, LinkedIn profile URL, and message you provide are processed by Netlify Forms on our behalf. We use this to assess your application. We do not add applicants to any mailing list. Applications are retained for as long as needed to assess them and to consider you for relevant commissions, and are deleted on request.
Newsletter subscriptions
If you subscribe to The GELI Briefing, we hold your email address for the purpose of sending it. We do not share or sell subscriber lists. Once you are receiving the Briefing, every issue carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes your address. Where the newsletter is delivered through a third-party platform, that platform processes your address on our instructions.
Server logs
Our hosting provider records standard request logs, including IP address, user agent, and the page requested. These are generated by the hosting infrastructure for security and operational purposes, retained on the provider’s standard schedule, and not used by GELI to build visitor profiles.
Analytics
This site currently runs no analytics and sets no analytics cookies. If that changes, this notice will be updated before the change takes effect, and any cookie-based analytics will be gated behind a consent mechanism for visitors in jurisdictions that require one.
Embedded third-party content
Event pages may embed a video player from YouTube. We use the youtube-nocookie.com domain and load players lazily, so nothing is requested from Google until the player scrolls into view, and tracking cookies are not set until you press play. Playing an embedded video means interacting with that third party directly.
Legal basis and your rights
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on legitimate interests to respond to inquiries you send us, and on consent for newsletter subscriptions. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing or by writing to info@geliresearch.com.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. To exercise any of these, write to info@geliresearch.com. We will respond within one month. If you are in the EU or UK and are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to your national supervisory authority.
International transfers
GELI and Wikistrat Inc. operate from the United States, and our hosting and forms provider processes data in the United States. If you contact us from outside the United States, your personal data is transferred there.
Changes to this notice
Material changes are reflected in the last-updated date at the top of this page. We do not make silent changes to how we handle personal data.
